Story & Sigil — Malton, North Yorkshire

These terms apply to every commission placed with Story & Sigil, whether for yourself or as a Gift Commission for someone else.

The Commission

Each commission is prepared individually, by hand, in the studio. Crests are restored from historical source material and arranged according to the choices made at the point of order. Nothing is generated, templated, or produced automatically.

Commissions are printed on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm cotton rag paper and issued as a personal archival record.

Timing

Standard commissions are prepared, and we aim to dispatch within fourteen working days of order. Gift Commission invitation packs we aim to prepare and dispatch within seven working days of order, and as soon as ready if sooner. Once a recipient has chosen their crests, their commission follows the same fourteen working-day preparation period.

Cancellation and Refunds

Because each commission is bespoke and begins preparation upon order, once an order is placed it cannot be cancelled and is non-refundable.

Damage in Transit

If your commission arrives damaged, the studio will issue a replacement free of charge. Please contact studio@storyandsigil.com with a photograph of the damage within fourteen days of receipt, and the studio will arrange a replacement as quickly as possible.

Gift Commissions

A Gift Commission is open-ended. There is no time limit by which the recipient must come forward to claim their commission. The invitation, once dispatched, remains valid indefinitely. The studio holds no further obligation to the giver once the invitation has been dispatched and confirmed.

Confidentiality

For Gift Commissions, the studio does not disclose to the giver which crests the recipient has chosen, or any other detail of the recipient’s commission. The finished work is sent directly to the recipient.

Intellectual Property

All crest compositions, archival arrangements, orientation lines, and written materials created by Story & Sigil are protected and may not be reproduced without permission.
